Muchemi Wandimi has spent two decades learning how different kinds of businesses create equity value. He has experience as both an investor and operator.

Muchemi founded The Charting Company (Nairobi) to find and develop high-quality investment opportunities by partnering with ambitious owners, operators, and overseers of enterprises in Africa. Muchemi is applying his investing and operating experience to provide these enterprises with the capabilities of a strategic CFO, with the goal of sustainably growing their equity value and attracting capital. 

Previously, Muchemi was CFO at Africa’s Talking (Nairobi) - a technology company that offers a communications API across Africa. Over his almost four years at Africa’s Talking, Muchemi drove financing rounds, and steered the company from being a venture-funded enterprise onto a path to self-generated funding. He oversaw all finance and accounting functions, provided analytical capacity to the commercial and product groups, and was the chief liaison to the board and institutional investors (International Finance Corporation and Orange Digital Ventures).

Prior to joining Africa’s Talking, Muchemi was an experienced investment analyst at RWC Partners (now Redwheel) and Everest Capital (Miami,FL) for six years. He directed all investments in stock markets across Africa. He also led investment research coverage for the energy and mining sectors in global emerging and frontier markets. During this time, he engaged with the company leadership teams of his investment targets, and national economic policy makers, as part of his investment due diligence. He also created valuation and supply-demand models for all companies and commodities under his coverage.

Muchemi began his investment career at Wellington Management (Boston, MA) as an investment research associate working on multiple industries and asset classes.

Muchemi graduated from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania with a BS Economics degree (Finance concentration) and a minor in International Relations.
